10 Weeks Pregnant – My Growing Baby

My baby has now grown to almost two inches.  Weighing about an ounce, my baby is now about the size of a lime.*

10 Weeks Pregnant – Changes for my baby

Everything in a normal adult is now present and in most cases actually functioning.  These working organs include kidneys, liver, brain, and lungs.  The head of my baby accounts for half of its size and the mouth now swallows.  My baby’s growing hair, toenails, and fingernails will be seen this week and the legs are actively moving.

Most people still don’t recognize that you am pregnant, but your pants may be getting tighter.  Your uterus is growing to accommodate your growing baby. Some people wait before telling others because of the unfortunate frequency of miscarriages during the first trimester.  You are probably more emotionally sensitive, so It is important that you are aware of your feelings and talking to somebody.

10 Weeks Pregnant – Planning this week

A common practice now is to visit one of the commercial sonograms to get a commemorative copy of your sonogram and developing baby.  Commercial sonograms are fairly safe, but it is important to talk to your healthcare provider before pursuing this.  A video of your sonogram may be something that your healthcare provider is willing to provide you.  It is a medical procedure so make sure you read up and learn more about it. During any prenatal visit at this time, your healthcare provider may use a dopplar to hear your baby’s heart.

You also want to become familiar with quickening which is the first movements of your baby that can be felt.  This normally occurs sometime between 13 to 16 weeks and it is good to know about this so it doesn’t catch you off guard.

Exercise during pregnancy is important for both you and your baby, but it is important to consult what activities are appropriate during pregnancy.  If you were active before your pregnancy more than likely you will be able to continue similar activities.   Swimming, stationary bikes, walking, and specialized pregnancy aerobics are frequent recommendations of healthcare providers.   M

10 Weeks Pregnant – Tips for my partner

Knowing that your partner will need to exercise for both she and her baby, it may prove helpful to find exercises that the two of you can do together.  You might also look for chores or responsibilities you can take from her to free up time for her to exercise.  Easy activties to engage in together include:

  • Walking
  • Swimming
  • Non competitive tennis
  • Golf
