My baby can now open its eyes.  More than likely you have noticed that your baby has established a routine sleeping and being awake cycle.  Hopefully, this correlates with your cycle.  If not, you may take advantage of the baby’s nap time with a nap of your own.   One thing you may notice now as your baby has gotten bigger is the hiccups.  Your baby’s lungs are developing and the hiccups are often experienced during this time of pregnancy.*

On of the joys and wonders of pregnancy is the baby’s movements.  Many women appreciate these movements for varying reasons.  Some provide peace of mind that the baby is doing alright. For some mothers it serves as a way to further bond with the baby.  Feeling these movements often leads to questions about the extent and frequency of movements.  Monitoring your baby’s kick count can be a good thing, but don’t panic when you don’t count them exactly the same.  If your baby does appear less active then normal, it may be a good idea to contact your healthcare provider just to check in.

Make sure that you have schedule your childbirth education classes.  You want to make sure you have plenty of time to make it through the classes without risking being done if the baby comes a little early.  Whether you are married or single, you may appreciate the benefits of working with a doula.  A doula is an advocate for your birth plan and an advocate for you during the birth process.  A doula does not replace your partner or other healthcare professionals.  A doula is a healthcare professional that partners with you and works with your birth team to give you the most positive birth experience possible.

Make sure that you have your car seat for your baby and the best thing is to stop by the fire station and make sure that it is installed correctly.  Most hospitals will not let you leave unless you have a car seat installed.  The are numerous car seat options and you may find it helpful to talk to other moms through forums, church or other communities.  You can also talk with your healthcare provider about potential recommendations.

27 Weeks Pregnant – Tips for my partner

As your partner continues in her pregnancy, her body is changing and growing and taking on some chores are more difficult and some even pose risks for her.  She needs to avoid lifting things over 10lbs.  You can score a lot of points and protect both she and your baby by picking up some of these chores and tasks.  Run the vaccuum, go to the grocery store, and move things that need to get moved. Keep her from getting on her knees by doing other things like cleaning the toilets and bath tub.
