9 Weeks Pregnant – My Growing Baby

My baby has grown to about an inch and half and is about the size of a grape and weighs about an ounce.*

9 Weeks Pregnant – Changes for my baby

The embryonic tail is gone by now and my baby is looking more like my little baby.  From this point forward, my baby will be gaining weight at a quicker rate.  The eyelids are complete, they are closed, and will be ready to open around the 28th week. My baby is only in the 9th week, but my baby can move around because all of the joints such as knees and elbows are working.  My baby’s heart has now grown into four chambers and is completing the development process.  My baby may starting sucking a thumb – isn’t life amazing.*

9 Weeks Pregnant – Changes for me

Many people my still not notice that you are pregnant, but you are probably aware of several changes.  You are probably still experiencing morning sickness and now you may notice mood swings or being more emotionally sensitive, feeling more bloated or an increase in heartburn.

9 Weeks Pregnant – Planning this week

The best way to minimize heartburn is to eat smaller meals, drink plenty of liquid, and get plenty of rest.  Pay attention to what you eat and avoid spicy foods.

Visiting with a genetic counselor may be recommended for those who have a history of genetic illness.  It may also prove to be beneficial to speak with a genetic counselor if you are over the age of 35. Your healthcare provider can discuss the probabiliites or needing a genetc counselor and make a referral for you if necessary.   The chorionic villus sampling (CVS) test is used to detect chromosomal abnormalities and may be done between weeks 9 and 12.

9 Weeks Pregnant – Health Tips

Nausea, mood swings, tender breast are all probably present, but you may start to experience fatigued at this time.  Your other pregnancy symptoms may be the cause of your fatigue.   Finding the right sleeping position can make a big difference, but it is important to get in the habit of sleeping on your side.  Placing a pillow between your knees and/or against your back may prove helpful.

9 Weeks Pregnant – Tips for my partner

Since your partner may be experiencing fatigue, it may prove beneficial or supportive to her if you  create a more relaxing atmosphere.  This can be accomplished by lower lighting, adding pillows where she often sits, and moving any work into anoter room.
